Why should I become a Fundeer?

This is a unique opportunity for you to raise money for great causes by doing something worthwhile. By fundraising in this way you are giving twice, it’s a double win! Unlike traditional fundraising activities, the value of your contribution is so much more than the sponsorship money you raise, the value of your time and skills to a charity and the money they save by not having to pay for this work.

Who can become a Fundeer?

Anyone with professional skills needed by our charities and who is willing to fundraise for Comic Relief.

Why is Comic Relief involved?

We have supported thousands of charities to improve the lives of people in the UK and abroad through our wonderful fundraisers, donors and sponsors. This is an opportunity for us to connect our millions of supporters with the causes we fund and enable people to create change by giving their money and their time.

Why should I fundraise to volunteer my skills?

Of course you can volunteer without fundraising or fundraise without volunteering, but by combining the two you are adding double value to what you do.

What types of projects does Fundeer offer?

We have a huge variety of projects submitted by our charities, these range from marketing, design, training, strategy planning and filmmaking. Click here to browse and apply for challanges or if you have skills that aren’t listed sign up as a fundeer so charities can approach you.

What types of organisations will I be Fundeering for?

Only organisations that receive Comic Relief funding can submit challenges. Applicants for Comic Relief grants are carefully considered and vetted so you can be sure that your contribution will be made to an organisation that we fully support. For more information about our projects please visit How We Help.

How are Fundeers selected?

Fundeeers are selected by the Charity that submits the challenge. They may also wish to contact you by email for more information.

Can I Fundeer my skills for more than one project?

Absolutely. If you believe you have the necessary skills to help on more than one projects, we would strongly encourage you to apply for multiple challenges.

What if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

Minimum fundraising targets are set low enough to ensure they will be met most of the times. In the unlikely event you don’t reach your target by the start of the project, you can continue fundraising throughout your placement.

But we are confident that the combination of your brilliant skills with our brilliant project opportunities will be enough to entice numerous sponsors.

I don’t have time to Fundeer in person. Can I do it remotely?

This should be possible, depending on the nature of the challenge. The projects will specify whether this would be acceptable, at their discretion.

For charities

What is a Fundeer?

A fundeer is someone who fundraises by volunteering. Someone who is willing to give up their time to work with charities on real challenges and get sponsored to do it.

Do charities have to pay?

Currently charities do not have to pay to use this site, but this may change in the future.

What is the value to my charity of a challenge?

This depends on each challenge but we estimate you could save between £500-£5000. For example, designing a professional logo would usually cost around £1,000 whereas getting a digital strategy and new website would cost £10,000 and upwards.

How do I know the right person will apply for my challenge?

We actively target people with proven skills and experience. You can also view fundeers’ LinkedIn profiles to see previous experience, skills and recommendations and email them for further information.

Why can’t fundeers raise money for my charity?

As with all our fundraising Comic Relief promise that every pound the charity gets from the public a pound goes to helping transform the lives of people living with poverty and social injustice. By being a Comic Relief grant recipient your charity is benefiting from this fundraising.

I’m not a Comic Relief charity, can I join?

We only offer this service to charities that have received Comic Relief grants as fundeers will be raising money for Comic Relief and not for the charity they volunteer for. We also want our fundeers to be confident that the challenges they apply for are with worthwhile causes we trust and that their skills will make a real difference. Find out more about applying for a Comic Relief grant.

What kind of projects can I submit?

Challenges best suited to Fundeering are one-off projects that you might usually pay a freelancer or consultant to do. See www.fundeer.com/challenges to browse challenges currently on offer.
